I. Social indicators
  In the first 4 months of 2010, the number of live births increased by 275 to 22345, the number of mothers delivered children increased by 270 or 1.2 percent to 22260, compared to the same period of the previous year.
  According to the data of Ministry of Health, births per 1000 population was 8.1, death per 1000 population was 2.2 and natural increase per 1000 population was 5.9 in the first 4 months of 2010. Compared to the same period of the previous year, infant mortality increased by 25 or 5.2 percent to 505, child mortality aged 1-5 increased by 76 to 138, while the number of maternal deaths declined by 8 to 9. The number of unemployed who had registered at Labour and Welfare Service Divisions in aimags and capital city and were actively looking for job reached 38.1 thousand at the end of April 2010, increased by 1412 persons or 3.8 percent, compared to the same period of the previous year. Such increase in the number of registered unemployed was mainly due to the increase in Uvurkhangai (233 persons), Orkhon (347 persons), Darkhan-Uul (421 persons), Khovd (459 persons), Tuv (466 persons), Zavkhan (568 persons), Bayankhongor (583 persons) aimags, respectively...
  In the first 4 months of 2010, 434.2 thous.persons registered as insurer, of which 172.2 thousand or 39.7 percent insurers from the government institutions and 262.0 thousand or 60.3 percent insurers from the private establishments.
  Total amount of pension allocated from the social insurance fund reached 110.4 bln.tog in the first 4 months of 2010. Retirement pension accounted for 72.7 percent, pension for disabled persons accounted for 13.0 percent, breadwinner loss pension accounted for 7.5 percent, and military pension accounted
for 6.8 percent of the total amount of pension. In the first 4 months of 2009, social welfare pensions and benefits had allocated for 1.3 mln.people with the amount of 42.6 bln.tog, while in the first 4 months of this year it had allocated for 170.9 thous.people with the amount of 15.4 bln.tog, reduced by 1.1 mln.people or 86.6 percent, the total amount of the allocated fund down by 27.2 bln.tog or 63.8 percent, compared to the same period of the previous year.
  From this year, 70.0 thous.tog were started to allocate to every citizen and in the first 4 months of 2010, totally 115.9 bln.tog were reached to 1.7 mln.people from the Human development fund. In the first 4 months of 2010, the number of infectious disease cases was 11.4 thousand, down by 1380 cases or 10.8 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. The number of persons infected by varicella, viral hepatitis, syphilis, trichomoniasis, shigellosis and gonococcal infection declined by 665 persons or 69.2 percent, by 631 persons or 27.6 percent, by 351 persons or 20.4 percent, by 224 persons or 11.9 percent, by 77 persons 11.5 percent, by 100 persons 4.8 percent, respectively. While, the number of persons infected by tuberculosis increased by 48 persons or 3.1 percent.
  In the first 4 months of 2010, 7 persons infected by HIV/AIDS were newly recorded and total 69 persons were recorded at the national level. In April 2010, 3 cases were newly recorded in Ulaanbaatar city. The total number of crimes committed in the first 4 months of 2010 was 6523, reflecting a decrease of 723 crimes or 10.0 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
  The decrease in the number of crimes recorded at the Police Office was mainly due to 23.5-45.5 percent decrease in crimes such as crime against the right ownership, crime against environmental protection rule, and crime against judicial procedure.

II. Macro economical indicators
  In the first quarter of 2010, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) reached 663.4 bln.tog at 2005 constant prices, increased by 46.6 bln.tog or 7.6 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. The increase was mainly due to the growth in output of industry, construction, and net taxes on products. The national consumer price index in April 2010 increased by 2.1 percent, 9.7 percent and 8.3 percent compared to the previous month, the end of the previous year and the same period of the previous year, respectively.
  Growth in national index compared to previous month was mainly due to the 4.3 percent increase in food and non-alcoholic beverages. According to the report of the Bank of Mongolia, money supply (broad money or M2) at the end of April 2010 expanded to 3163.0 bln.tog, which reflects an increase of 188.5 bln.tog or 6.3 percent over March 2010, and an increase of 821.1 bln.tog, or 35.1 percent compared to the same period of the last year.
  At the end of April of 2010, currency issued in circulation reached 445.0 bln.tog, demonstrating an increase of 60.5 bln.tog or 15.7 percent compared to March of 2010, and an increase of 89.4 bln.tog or 25.1 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
  Loans outstanding at the end of April 2010 amounted to 2764.9 bln.tog, decreased by of 3.7 bln.tog or 0.1 percent over the March 2010, increased by 184.6 bln.tog or 7.2 percent, compared to the same period of the last year. Meanwhile, principals in arrears decreased, by 14.3 bln.tog or 9.3 percent over
the March 2010 and by 15.2 bln.tog or 9.8 percent compared to the same period of the last year, to 139.0 bln.tog at the end of April 2010.
  At the end of April 2010, the nonperforming loans reached 416.0 bln.tog, decreased by 15.8 bln.tog or 3.7 percent over the March of 2010, and increased by 142.1 bln.tog or 1.5 times compared to the same period of the previous year.
  In April 2010, there were 22 trading days and 5.8 mln.shares valued at 6.2 bln.tog were traded. The number of shares traded decreased by 5.9 mln.stocks or 2.0 times over the March of 2010 and by 9.8 mln.stocks or 2.7 times compared to the same period of the previous year, respectively.
  In the first 4 months of 2010, total revenue and grants of General Government budget amounted to 781.0 bln.tog and total expenditure and net lending amounted 971.1 bln.tog, representing a deficit of 190.1 bln.tog in the General Government budget overall balance.
  Current revenue of General Government amounted to 753.7 bln.tog and current expenditure reached 763.0 bln.tog. Thus, the budget current balance was in deficit of 9.3 bln.tog. Compared to the same period of the previous year, tax revenue increased by 282.4 bln.tog or 73.2 percent. The increase was
mainly due to increase of 78.4 bln.tog or 9.0 times in price increase tax of some products, and of 70.1 bln.tog or 2.3 percent in corporate income tax, of 56.7 bln.tog or 67.9 percent in value added tax, although the income of special purposes decreased by 3.2 bln.tog or 38.5 percent.
  Compared to the same period of the previous year, non-tax revenue increased by 2.6 bln.tog or 3.1 percent, out of which revenues from budget entities went up by 20.7 bln.tog or 81.2 percent, revenues from oil petroleum went up by 10.4 bln.tog, and other revenues went up by 5.1 bln.tog or 2.4 times respectively, although the revenues from dividends decreased by 34.5 bln.tog or 97.8 percent, revenues from interest and fines decreased by 2.0 bln.tog or 18.4 percent.
  Compared to the same period of the previous year, total expenditure and net lending of the General Government budget increased by 358.1 bln.tog or 58.4 percent to 971.1 bln.tog in the first 4 months of 2010. This was mainly due to increase of 179.8 bln.tog or 75.9 percent in subsidies and transfers, and 25.0 bln.tog or 21.7 percent in purchase of other goods and services.
  Spending of 93.1 bln.tog on capital expenditure in the first 4 month of 2010 was higher by 39.8 bln.tog or 74.5 percent over the same period of the previous year. Increase in capital expenditure was due to an increase of 45.8 bln.tog or 99.5 percent in capital expenditure of domestic sources, although the foreign financed capital expenditure decreased by 6.1 bln.tog or 83.0 percent.
  In the first 4 months of 2010, Mongolia traded with 112 countries from all over the world and total external trade turnover reached 1552.2 mln.US dollars, of which exports made up 729.4 mln.US dollars and import made up 822.8 mln.US dollars. External trade balance in the first 4 months of 2010, showed a deficit of 93.4 mln.US dollars, increased by 0.1 mln.US dollars or 0.2 percent, compared to the same period of the previous year.
  Compared to the same period of the previous year, total external trade turnover increased by 570.3 mln.US dollars, or 58.1 percent, of which exports by 285.1 mln.US dollars or 64.2 percent, imports by 285.2 mln.US dollars or 53.1 percent respectively. In the first 4 months of 2010, mineral products, natural or cultured stones, precious metal, jewellery and textiles & textile articles accounted for 92.5 percent of the total export value amount.

III. Economics sector indicators
  In the first 4 months of 2010, 7.0 mln.head, or 36.9 percent of total breeding stock at the beginning of the year, gave birth. Survival of young animals amounted to 5104.2 thous.head, down by 5434.7 thous.head or 2.1 times compared to the same period of the previous year.
  In the first 4 months of 2010, at national level, 8142.3 thous.adult animals, which equals to 18.5 percent of total livestock at beginning of the year, had lost. Out of the losses of adult animals, 6.4 thous.heads were camels, 269.6 thous.heads were horses, 458.8 thous.heads were cows, 3337.5 thous.heads were sheeps and 4070.0 thous.heads were goats. Out of losses of adult animals, 50.0 percent were goats.
  In the first 4 months of 2010, the total industrial output increased by 60.7 bln.tog or 12.7 percent to 538.5 bln.tog (at 2005 constant prices) compared to the same period of the previous year. The increase in the industrial output was mainly due to an increase of main industrial products such as coal, crude oil, iron ore, molybdenum concentrate with 47%, fluor spar concentrate, all types of meat, milk, dairy products, wheat flour, alcoholic beverage, wine, beer, soft drinks, juice, lime, metal sleeper, copper 99%, metal steel, metal foundries and steel casting etc.
  Industrial the output, in the first 4 months of 2010, showed increase in extraction of crude petroleum and natural gas by 2.6 times, mining of coal and lignite extraction of peat increased by 65.2%, other mining and quarrying by 10.4% for the mining and quarrying sector; manufacture of rubber and plastics products by 2.2 times, manufacture of wearing apparel, dressing and dyeing of fur by 70.1%, manufacture of food products and beverages increased by 52.9%, publishing, printing and reproduction of recorded media by 28.1%, manufacture of chemicals and chemical products by 19.2%, manufacture of coke, refined petroleum products and nuclear fuel by 0.8% for the manufacturing sector compared to the same period of last year. For the electricity, thermal energy and water supply subdivision, production of electricity, thermal energy, steam increased by 6.9%.
  In the first 4 months of 2010, total 13.4 bln.tog of construction and installation work were carried out at national level. Of which, 6.6 bln.tog or 49.6 percent of the work were executed by domestic entities, and 6.8 bln.tog or 50.4 percent by foreign entities. In the first 4 months of 2010, 1054.9 thous.passengers and 4856.1 thous.ton freight (duplicated) were carried by railway transport.
  Compared to the same period of the previous year, carried passengers rose by 58.7 thous.persons or 5.9 percent, carried freight rose by 626.6 thous.ton or 14.8 percent. In the first 4 months of 2010, 90.2 thous.passengers and 436.3 ton freight (duplicated) were carried by air transport. Compared to the same period of the previous year, carried passengers rose by 21.7 thous.persons or 31.7 percent, carried freight rose by 109.9 ton or 33.7 percent.
  Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology reveals that maximum precipitation was in Bogd soum (46.1 mm) of Bayankhongor aimag and in Bogd soum (34.7) of Uvurkhangai aimag, respectively. Absolute high air temperature reached 24.9°C in Sukhbaatar soum of Selenge aimag and 24.8°C in Khanbogd soum of Umnugobi aimag, whereas absolute low air temperature was -34.1°C in Tsetsen-Uul soum of Zavkhan aimag and -31.8°C in Zuungobi soum of Uvs aimag. Highest cover of snow was 31 cm in Bayan-Adarga and Gurvanbayan soums of Khentii aimag, and 30 cm in Norovlin soum of Khentii aimag, Bayanturuun soum of Uvs aimag, respectively. Maximum wind speed reached 28 m/sec in Bulgan soum of Umnugovi aimag and 26 m/sec in Altai and Tsogt soums of Gobi-Altai aimag.
  Concentration of nitrogen dioxide exceeded from the maximum allowable concentration of air quality standard once around Khan-Uul duureg, 4 times around the 1st micro district, 6 times around the 13th micro district and twice in the 32nd Toirog; sulphur dioxide exceeded 13 times around the Khan-Uul district, 3 times around the Offitseruudiin ordon, 3 times around the 32nd Toirog, 3 times around the 13th micro district and 3 times around the 1st micro district; particulate matter less than ten micrograms exceeded 9 times around the 1st micro district and 2 times around the 13th micro district in the Ulaanbaatar city and once in Erdenet city in April, 2010.
  National emergency and management agency reveals that 1052 disasters occurred in the first 4 months of 2010 and as a result 80 people died, 7.4 mln livestock had lost in aimags and soums experienceda natural-zud disaster. By the types of disasters, 934 object fires, 15 heavy snow, sandstorms and 14 earthquakes had registered. Estimated damage caused by disaster amounted to 395.8 bln.tog.
