I. Social indicators
  In the first 5 months of 2010, the number of live births increased by 149 to 27957, the number of mothers delivered children increased by 127 or 0.5 percent to 27854, compared to the same period of the previous year.
  According to the data of Ministry of Health, births per 1000 population was 10.1, death per 1000 population was 2.7 and natural increase per 1000 population was 7.4 in the first 5 months of 2010. In the first 5 months of 2010, infant mortality increased by 30 or 5.0 percent to 625, child mortality aged 1-5 increased by 94 or 2.2 times to 174, respectively; while the number of maternal deaths decreased by 12 to 11, compared to the same period of the previous year.
  As results of the Household Socio-Economic Survey, in the 1st quarter of 2010, household average monetary income per month increased by 48.3 thous.tog or 14.0 percent to 393.0 thous.tog, compared to the same period of the previous year.
  As a 1st quarter of 2010, household average monetary expenditure per month increased by 22.4 thous.tog or 6.3 percent to
378.0 thous.tog, compared to the same period of the previous year. As results of Labour Force Survey the number of unemployed, in the 1st quarter of 2010 at national level, was 135.1 thousand, of which men and women were 76.3 thousand and 58.8 thousand, respectively. Unemployment rate reached 12.2 percent for surveyed period or in the 1st quarter of 2010...
  The number of unemployed who had registered at Labour and Welfare Service Divisions in aimags and capital city and were actively looking for job reached 38701 at the end of May, 2010, decreased by 95 persons or 0.2 percent, compared to the same period of the previous year. Such decline in the number of unemployed compared to the same period of the previous year was mainly due to the decrease in Umnugovi (177 persons), Dornod (191 persons), Uvurkhangai (240 persons), Khentii (583 persons), Bulgan (866 persons) aimags and Ulaanbaatar city (1405 persons), respectively.
  In the first 5 months of 2010, 440.3 thous.persons registered as insurer, of which 176.8 thousand or 40.2 percent insurers from the government institutions and 263.4 thousand or 59.8 percent insurers from the private establishments.
  Total amount of pension allocated from the social insurance fund reached 138.4 bln.tog in the first 5 months of 2010. Retirement pension accounted for 72.9 percent, pension for disabled persons accounted for 12.9 percent, breadwinner loss pension accounted for 7.5 percent, and military pension accounted for 6.7 percent of the total amount of pension.
  In the first 5 months of 2010, social welfare pensions and benefits had allocated for 171.0 thous.people with the amount of 19.6 bln.tog, reduced by 1.1 mln.people or 86.7 percent, the total amount of the allocated fund down by 31.7 bln.tog or 61.8 percent, compared to the same period of the previous year.
  From this year, 70.0 thous.tog were started to allocate to every citizen and in the first 5 months of 2010, totally 162.3 bln.tog
were reached to 2.3 mln.people from the Human development fund. In the first 5 months of 2010, the number of infectious disease cases was 15.3 thousand, down by 861 cases or 5.3 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. The number of persons infected by varicella, viral hepatitis, shigellosis, syphilis, trichomoniasis, gonococcal infection, and tuberculosis cases declined by 801 persons or 67.4 percent, by 760 persons or 28.3 percent, by 183 persons or 19.9 percent, by 404 persons or 18.7 percent, by 194 persons or 8.4 percent, by 19 persons or 0.7 percent, by 7 persons or 0.3 percent respectively.
  In the first 5 months of 2010, 9 persons infected by HIV/AIDS were newly recorded and total 71 persons were recorded at the national level. In May, 2010, 2 cases infected by HIV/AIDS were newly recorded in Ulaanbaatar city.
  The total number of crimes committed in the first 5 months of 2010 was 8326, reflecting a decrease of 751 crimes or 8.3 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
  In the first 5 months of 2010, occurred crimes caused 2773 injuries, 541 deaths, down by 809 persons or 22.6 percent and by
158 persons or 22.6 percent, respectively, compared to the same period of previous year.

II. Macro economical indicators
  The national consumer price index in May, 2010 increased by 3.2 percent, 13.1 percent and 11.6 percent compared to the previous month, the end of the previous year and the same period of the previous year, respectively. Growth in national index compared to previous month was mainly due to the 6.4 percent increase in food and nonalcoholic beverages.
  According to the report of the Bank of Mongolia, money supply (broad money or M2) at the end of May, 2010 expanded to 3253.1 bln.tog, which reflects an increase of 90.1 bln.tog or 2.8 percent compared to the end of April 2010, and an increase of 848.4 bln.tog or 35.3 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. At the end of May, 2010, currency issued in circulation reached 462.7 bln.tog, demonstrating an increase of 17.7 bln.tog or 4.0 percent compared to the end of April 2010,
and an increase of 81.5 bln.tog or 21.4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
  Loans outstanding at the end of May, 2010 amounted to 2852.7 bln.tog, increased by 87.8 bln.tog or 3.2 percent compared to the end of April 2010, and by 317.8 bln.tog or 12.5 percent, compared to the same period of the previous year. Meanwhile, principals in arrears decreased, by 11.5 bln.tog or 8.3 percent compared to the end of April 2010, and by 37.2 bln.tog or 22.6 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, to 127.5 bln.tog at the end of May, 2010.
  At the end of May, 2010, the nonperforming loans over bank system reached 414.8 bln.tog, decreased by 1.2 bln.tog or 0.3
percent compared to the end of April 2010, and increased by 120.3 bln.tog or 40.9 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
  In May, 2010, there were 21 trading days and 6.4 mln.shares valued at 1.5 bln.tog were traded. The number of shares traded increased by 581.6 mln.shares or 10.0 percent compared to April 2010 and decreased by 438.3 mln.shares or 6.4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, respectively. In the first 5 months of 2010, total revenue and grants of General Government budget amounted to 1002.1 bln.tog and total expenditure and net lending amounted to 1171.9 bln.tog, representing a deficit of 169.8 bln.tog in the General Government budget overall balance, which is down by 22.0 bln.tog compared to the same period of the previous year.
  Current revenue of General Government amounted to 968.7 bln.tog and current expenditure reached 912.9 bln.tog. Thus, the budget current balance was in profit of 55.9 bln.tog. Compared to the same period of the previous year, tax revenue increased by 355.6 bln.tog or 71.0 percent. The increase was mainly due to increase of 90.2 bln.tog or 5.8 times in price increase tax of some products, and of 74.8 bln.tog or 2.1 percent in corporate income tax, of 76.3 bln.tog or 67.7 percent in value added tax, although the income of special purposes decreased by 0.4 bln.tog or 3.6 percent.
  Compared to the same period of the previous year, non-tax revenue decreased by 19.1 bln.tog or 14.5 percent, out of which
revenues from budget entities went up by 23.5 bln.tog or 65.0 percent, revenues from oil petroleum up by 13.6 bln.tog, and other revenues up by 6.5 bln.tog or 2.0 times respectively, although the revenues from dividends decreased by 63.3 bln.tog or 98.7 percent, revenues from interest and fines decreased by 0.5 bln.tog or 4.2 percent. Total expenditure and net lending of the General Government budget increased by 347.0 bln.tog or 42.1 percent to 1171.9 bln.tog in the first 5 months of 2010, compared to the same period of the previous year. This was mainly due to increase of 165.1 bln.tog or 52.6 percent in subsidies and transfers, and 30.7 bln.tog or 21.0 percent in purchase of other goods and services.
  Spending of 133.0 bln.tog on capital expenditure in the first 5 month of 2010 was higher by 55.8 bln.tog or 72.2 percent over the same period of the previous year. Increase in capital expenditure was due to an increase of 64.5 bln.tog or 95.9 percent in capital expenditure of domestic sources, although the foreign financed capital expenditure decreased by 8.7 bln.tog or 87.4 percent.
  In the first 5 months of 2010, Mongolia traded with 120 countries from all over the world and total external trade turnover reached 2039.8 mln.US dollars, of which exports made up 989.8 mln.US dollars and import made up 1050.0 mln.US dollars.  
  External trade balance in the first 5 months of 2010 showed a deficit of 60.2 mln.US dollars, decreased by 41.0 mln.US dollars or 40.6 percent, compared to the same period of the previous year. In the first 5 months of 2010, total external trade turnover increased by 752.8 mln.US dollars or 58.5 percent, of which exports by 396.9 mln.US dollars or 66.9 percent, imports by 355.9 mln.US dollars or 51.3 percent respectively, compared to the same period of the previous year.
  In the first 5 months of 2010, mineral products, natural or cultured stones, precious metal, jewelry and textiles & textile articles accounted for 92.4 percent of the total export value amount.

III. Economics sector indicators
  In the first 5 months of 2010, 9.2 mln.head or 48.4 percent of total breeding stock at the beginning of the year, gave birth.
Survival of young animals amounted to 6709.5 thous.head or 72.8 percent of the young animals were born, down by 5777.5 thous.head or 1.9 times compared to the same period of the previous year. In the first 5 months of 2010, at national level, 8821.0 thous.adult animals, hich equals to 20.0 percent of total livestock at beginning of the year, had lost. Out of the losses of adult animals, 7.6 thous.heads were camels, 298.0 thous.heads were horses, 501.8 thous.heads were cows, 3636.6 thous.heads were sheeps and 4377.0 thous.heads were goats. Out of losses of adult animals, 49.6 percent were goats.
  In the first 5 months of 2010, the total industrial output increased by 76.3 bln.tog or 12.2 percent to 700.1 bln.tog (at 2005
constant prices) compared to the same period of the previous year. The increase in the industrial output was mainly due to an increase of main industrial products such as coal, crude oil, molybdenum concentrate with 47%, fluor spar concentrate, all types of meat, milk, dairy products, wheat flour, alcoholic beverage, wine, beer, soft drinks, juice, combed down, lime, metal sleeper, copper, metal foundries and steel casting etc. Industrial output, in the first 5 months of 2010, showed increase in extraction of crude petroleum and natural gas (99.2%), mining of coal and lignite extraction of peat (73.6%) and other mining and quarrying (22.5%) for the mining and quarrying sector; in manufacture of wearing apparel, dressing and dyeing of fur (61.3%), manufacture of food products and beverages (44.8%), manufacture of textiles (23.2%), publishing, printing and reproduction of recorded media (18.4%), manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (18.1%), manufacture of tobacco products (5.3%), manufacture of coke, refined petroleum products and nuclear fuel (4.3%), production of other non-metallic mineral products (3.5%), manufacture of wood and wooden products (2.0%) for the manufacturing sector compared to the same period of last year. For the electricity, thermal energy and water supply subdivision, there was an increase in production of electricity, thermal energy, and steam (6.4%).
  In the first 5 months of 2010, total 23.7 bln.tog of construction and installation work were carried out at national level. Of which, 16.9 bln.tog or 71.3 percent of the work were executed by domestic entities, and 6.8 bln.tog or 28.7 percent by foreign entities. Export freight carried by railway transport increased by 302.7 thous.t or 27.6 percent, domestic freight increased by 374.1 thous.t or 12.9 percent and import freight increased by 139.4 thous.t or 32.0 percent compared to the same period of previous year. While, transit freight decreased by 64.6 thous.t or 6.3 percent. Due to the increase in carried freight and passengers, revenue from railway transport increased by 22.6 bln.tog 26.8 percent to 106.8 bln.tog in the first 5 months of 2010, compared to the same period of the previous year.
  In the first 5 months of 2010, 116.6 thous.passengers and 541.9 t.freight (duplicated) were carried by air transport. Compared to the same period of the previous year, carried passengers rose by 28.6 thous.persons or 32.6 percent, carried freight rose by 122.5 t or 29.2 percent. Due to the increase in carried freighy and passengers, revenue from air transport increased by 2.6 bln.tog or 8.5 percent to 32.9 bln.tog in the first 5 months of 2010, compared to the same period of the previous year.
  Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology reveals that maximum precipitation was in Galshar soum (65.0 mm) of Khentii aimag, in May, 2010. Absolute high air temperature reached 32.9°C in Darkhan soum of Darkhan-Uul aimag, whereas absolute low air temperature was -11.0°C in Tsetsen-Uul soum of Zavkhan aimag and Jargalant soum of Bayankhongor aimag. Highest cover of snow was 12 cm in Galuut soum of Bayankhongor aimag. Maximum wind speed reached 40 m/sec in Zavkhan soum of Uvs aimag.
  Concentration of sulphur dioxide exceeded twice around the Khan-Uul district of Ulaanbaatar city, concentration of nitrogen dioxide exceeded twice in the 32nd Toirog and around the 13th micro district, respectively; particulate matter less than 2.5 micrograms exceeded 6 times in Erdenet city from the maximum allowable concentration of air quality standard in May, 2010.
  National Emergency and Management Agency reveals that 1342 disasters occurred in the first 5 months of 2010 and as a result 98 people died, 8.1 mln.livestock had lost in aimags and soums experienced natural-zud disaster. By the types of disasters, 1168 object fires, 19 heavy snow, sandstorms and 23 earthquakes higher than 3 magnitute had registered. Estimated damage caused by disaster amounted to 437.7 bln.tog.
