Mr S. Mendsaikhan, Chairman of the National Statistical Office (NSO), had a meeting with delegates headed by Chanil Seo, Director of Informatics Service Planning Division, Statistics Korea (KOSTAT), the Republic of Korea. During the meeting, both parties discussed a Project: Statistical Database Management and Service System to be implemented across the national statistical system of Mongolia under a grant from the Government of the Republic of Korea in 2012. KOSTAT, well known at the international arena for its technical expertise in introducing the service system whereby statistics would be turned into knowledge and communicated to users of statistics in an effective way, is going to implement this project. Within the framework of the project, an online statistical information system is to be designed and adopted. As a result, data transfer and dissemination between statistical institutions will tangibly be improved and the enormous opportunity to transform statistics into knowledge will be created for users.
