I. Social indicators In the first 10 months of 2012, 62085 mothers delivered 62347 children (live births) increased by 3418 mothers or 5.8 percent and 3450 children or 5.9 percent, compared to same period of the previous year. In the first 10 months of 2012, at national level infant mortality decreased by 16 or 1.7 percent to 949 and child mortality aged 1-5 decreased by 5 or 2.4 percent to 206. The number of unemployed reached 40.1 thousand at the end of October 2012, reflecting an increase of 745 persons or 1.9 percent compared to same period of the previous year. In the first 10 months of 2012, 687.0 thous.persons were registered as insurer, of which 464.6 thousand or 67.6 percent were those from the establishments and 222.4 thousand or 32.4 percent from the government budgetary organization. Compared to same period of the previous year, the number of insurers increased by 80.5 thousand or 13.3 percent, of which the increased by 69.2 thousand or 17.5 percent from establishments, and increased by 11.4 thousand or 5.4 percent from government budgetary organization. In the first 10 months of 2012, social welfare pensions and benefits allocated to 60.6 thous.persons, showing an increase of 3.7 thous.persons or 6.6 percent, total amount of the allocated fund increased by 26.2 bln.tog or 91.0 percent compared to same period of the previous year... In the first 10 months of 2012, the total number of infectious disease cases reached 36073, increase by 2625 cases or 7.8 percent compared to same period of the previous year. The increase in the number of infectious disease cases was mainly due to the increases of 7129 or 9.3 times in mumps and 400 or 11.3 percent in syphilis although there were decreases of 4390 or 43.4 percent in viral hepatitis, 531 or 20.2 percent in varicella, 59 or 3.1 percent in shigellosis, 67 or 1.9 percent in tuberculosis. At national level, 18252 crimes were registered in the first 10 months of 2012, reflecting an increase of 2286 crimes or 14.3 percent compared to same period of the previous year. The increase in the number of crimes was mainly due to the increases in crime against the right of ownership (1457), crime against human life and health (or physical well-being) (398), crime against the rules of safety of traffic and use of motor vehicles (187), crimes against environmental protection rules (147) compared to same period of the previous year. In the first 10 months of 2012, occurred crimes caused 6947 injuries and 800 deaths. The number of injuries up by 366 persons or 5.6 percent and the number of deaths down by 88 persons or 9.9 percent compared to same period of the previous year.
II. Macroeconomic indicators The national consumer price index in October 2012, increased by 0.6 percent compared to the previous month, 12.9 percent compared to the beginning of the year and 15.0 percent compared to same period of the previous year. The increase in national index compared to the previous month was mainly due to 4.6 percent increase in housing, water electricity and fuels. According to the report of the Bank of Mongolia, money supply (broad money or M2) at the end of October 2012, reached to 7132.6 bln.tog, increased by of 20.4 bln.tog or 0.3 percent compared to the previous month, and increased by 1054.3 bln.tog or 17.3 percent compared to same period of the previous year. At the end of October 2012, currency issued in circulation reached 717.6 bln.tog, desreased by 28.0 bln.tog or 3.8 percent compared to the previous month and increased by 22.7 bln.tog or 3.3 percent compared to same period of the previous year. Loans outstanding at the end of October 2012, amounted to 6855.4 bln.tog, down by 11.9 bln.tog or 0.2 percent compared to the previous month, and up by 1633.5 bln.tog or 31.3 percent compared to same period of the previous year. Principals in arrears at the end of October 2012, reached 132.5 bln.tog, increased by 15.5 bln.tog or 13.2 percent compared to the previous month, and increased by 61.5 bln.tog or 86.6 percent compared to same period of the previous year. At the end of October 2012, the non-performing loans over the bank system reached 306.2 bln.tog, showing a decrease of 0.1 bln.tog or 0.03 percent compared to the previous month, and a decrease of 41.3 bln.tog or 11.9 percent compared to same period of the previous year. In October 2012, there were 23 trading days and 2.1 mln.shares valued at 665.3 mln.tog were traded. In the first 10 months of 2012, total equilibrated revenue and grants of the General Government Budget amounted to 3942.5 bln.tog and total expenditure and net lending amounted to 4521.5 bln.tog, representing deficit of 579.0 bln.tog in the equilibrated balance of General Government Budget. In the first 10 months of 2012, current revenue of the General Government Budget amounted to 3904.8 bln.tog and current expenditure reached 3423.1 bln.tog. Thus, the budget equilibrated current balance was in surplus of 481.7 bln.tog. Compared to same period of the previous year, tax revenue increased by 466.9 bln.tog or 15.4 percent. The increase was mainly due to the increases of 166.5 bln.tog or 45.5 percent in social security contribution, 160.0 bln.tog or 13.7 percent in taxes on goods and services, 92.0 bln.tog or 17.1 percent in other taxes and 42.1 bln.tog or 6.3 percent in income tax. Compared to same period of the previous year, non-tax revenue increased by 43.6 bln.tog or 12.0 percent. The desrease was mainly due to the increases of 2.9 bln.tog or 7.1 percent in revenues from dividends although there was increases of 20.2 bln.tog or 41.9 percent in revenues from oil petroleum, 12.2 bln.tog or 34.2 percent in revenues from interest, 10.0 bln.tog or 26.9 percent in revenues from others, 2.1 bln.tog or 6.0 percent in navigation fee, and 1.2 bln.tog or 0.7 percent in revenues from budjet entities. In the first 10 months of 2012, total expenditure and net lending of the General Government Budget increased by 1236.9 bln.tog or 37.7 percent to 4521.5 bln.tog compared to same period of the previus year. This was mainly due to increases of 505.2 bln.tog or 91.5 percent in capital expenditure, 475.4 bln.tog or 43.0 percent in expenditure of goods and services, 398.9 bln.tog or 29.6 percent in subsidies and transfers, 64.0 bln.tog or 3.0 times in interest payments although there was decreases of 206.5 bln.tog or 83.4 percent in lending minus repayments. In the first 10 months of 2012, spending of 1057.4 bln.tog on capital expenditure increased by 505.2 bln.tog or 91.5 percent compared to same period of the previous year. This was mainly due to increases of 490.1 bln.tog or 96.2 percent in capital expenditure of domestic sources and 15.0 bln.tog or 35.4 percent in capital expenditure of foreign financed compared to same period of the previous year. In the first 10 months of 2012, Mongolia traded with 135 countries from all over the world and total external trade turnover reached 9404.0 mln.US dollars, of which exports made up 3664.7 mln.US dollars and imports made up 5739.3 mln.US dollars. Foreign trade balance showed a deficit of 2074.6 mln.US dollars in the first 10 months of 2012, reflecting 469.6 mln.US dollars or 29.3 percent increase compared to same period of the previous year. The foreign trade deficit in the first 10 months of 2012 was mainly caused by the fact that the import growth was higher by 9.4 points than the export growth. Total external trade turnover increased by 304.3 mln.US dollars or 3.3 percent, of which imports up by 386.9 mln.US dollars or 7.2 percent and exports down by 82.7 mln.US dollars or 2.2 percent, compared to same period of the previous year. Mineral products, natural or cultured stones, precious metal, jewelry, coins, raw & processed hides, skins, fur & articles, animal origin products, and textile articles accounted for 98.2 percent of the total export value amount.
III. Economic sector indicators On the 1st of November 2012, 470.5 thous.tons of cereals, 245.6 thous.t of potatoes, 97.8 thous.t of vegetables were harvested and 1140.0 thous.t of hay harvest, 33.8 thous.t of handmade fodder and 975.3 t of silage crops were produced. Compared to same period of the previous year, potatoes rose by 46.3 thous.t or 23.2 percent, cereals rose by 25.2 thous.t or 5.7 percent, silage crops down by 1.3 thous.t or 2.3 times, handmade fodder down by 9.3 thous.t or 21.5 percent, hay harvest down by 5.3 thous.t or 0.5 percent and vegetables down by 0.5 thous.t or 0.5 percent. In the first 10 months of 2012, the total industrial output increased by 104.8 bln.tog or 6.3 percent to 1776.3 bln.tog (at 2005 constant prices) compared to same period of the previous year. The increase in the industrial output was mainly due to 0.6-47.9 percent, increases in mining and quarrying products such as copper concentrate with 35 percent, molybdenum, with concentrate, zincum concentrate, iron ore, and crude oil and 1.7 percent to 4.7 times increases in industrial main products of manufacturing sector such as kind of sausage, flour, fodder, knitted goods, bakery products, alcoholic beverage, carpet, metal foundries, sawn wood, bottled water, bread, beer, electric wire, milk, meat, briquette, plastering mortar and metal sleeper. In the first 10 months of 2012, 16894.3 thous.t freight and 3365.0 thous.passengers (double counting) were carried by railway transport. Compared to same period of the previous year, the number of carried freight rose by 1707.3 thous.t or 11.2 percent and the number of carried passengers rose by 158.6 thous.persons or 4.9 percent. Due to the increase in carried freight and passengers, revenue from railway transport increased by 23.6 bln.tog or 7.3 percent to 347.4 bln.tog in the first 10 months of 2012, compared to same period of the previous year. In the first 10 months of 2012, 3385.4 t freight and 654.8 thous.passengers (double counting) were carried by air transport. Compared to same period of the previous year, the number of carried freight increased by 1141.8 t or 50.9 percent, the number of carried passengers rose by 178.0 thous.persons or 37.3 percent. Due to the increase in carried freight and passengers, revenue from air transport increased by 24.3 bln.tog or 17.6 percent to 162.1 bln.tog in the first 10 months of 2012, compared to same period of the previous year. In the first 10 months of 2012, 3367 disasters and accidents occurred. As a result, 208 people died, 12.2 thous.livestock and animals had lost. There were 2878 structure fires, 218 forest fires and wildfires, 93 accidental drowning and submersion incidents, 34 heavy rain and floods, 30 animal madness diseases, 24 incidents related to artisan mining rock falls, 20 severe storms, 16 thunder occurred, 14 malignant anthrax, and 10 emergency calls related to chemical substance usage made in the first 10 months of 2012. In the first 10 months of 2012, estimated damage caused by the disasters and accidents amounted to 91.4 bln.tog. Compared to same period of previous year, disaster and accidents occurred increased by 411, people died up by 19. According to the report of the Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology, maximum precipitation was registered in Selenge soum (36.0 mm) of Bulgan aimag in October 2012. In October 2012, Zereg soum of Khovd aimag, Choibalsan soum of Dornod aimag, and Zamiin-Uud soum of Dornogovi aimag had the highest air temperature (24.0°C), while Tsetsen-Uul soum of Zavkhan aimag had the lowest air temperature (-30.0°C). Wind speed reached 25 m/sec in Olgii soum of Bayan-Olgii aimag. Daily average concentration of nitrogen dioxide exceeded 30 times around the 13th micro district of Ulaanbaatar city, 24 times around Kharkhorin market, 16 times around the 32nd Toirog, 14 times around the West crossroad, 4 times around the Offitseruudiin ordon, 2 times around the 1th micro district, daily average concentration of sulphur dioxide exceeded 19 times around the 13th micro district, 9 times around the 32nd Toirog, 8 times around the Offitseruudiin ordon, 4 times around the 1th micro district, and 2 times around the West crossroad, particulate matter less than 10 micrograms exceeded 30 times around Kharkhorin market, 25 times around the 13th micro district, 7 times around the West crossroad, and 2 times around the 32nd Toirog from the maximum allowable concentration of air quality standard in October 2012. |
